401k advice appreciated
I'm looking to get some advice/info on managing a 401k account. Here's my situation: I'm 24 with a high risk tolerance, I have a balance of about 4K, and my employer matches 25% upto 8% salary, which is what I contribute. I currently have all my funds in a large growth mutual fund that is about 90% stock, 10% bonds and cash.
Right now I'm getting slammed with a -10% personal return. I'm not sure what the best route to go would be. Would it be better to reallocate funds into something more secure with a steady, although smaller, return? Or, would it be best to leave things alone, keep buying cheap shares and wait it out? I'm leaning towards leaving it alone as time is on my side, but I would greatly appreciate any advice. Also, if anyone has any great sources where I can read up on this sort of thing, please let me know. Thanks!
