Default Advice, help, anything really.

I'm a student and I've recently gotten myself into a bit of a pickle. My car broke down and my dad got sick. I've been trying to get money through my school to possibly cover the car, but the school doesn't offer emergency loans or grants; so now I am teetering between paying my rent and paying to fix my car.
I'm not really sure of my options here. It's something I would need rather quickly. I've approached a few banks about the situation, and my ability to pay it off in full once October comes around. I have no credit, no job (yiiiiiikes) no well-to-do family members or anyone I know with good credit to co-sign with a loan.
I've explored all the options I'm aware of, but I know that there has to be something else out there.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Based on the information you provided, these are my suggestions:

1 - Get a part time job within walking or biking distance from your house that you can work after school.

2 - Pay your rent

3 - See if you can get a loan from your bank using the CAR itself as collateral. They will want to know you have income, so getting a part time job will be what they need you to prove.

4 - Take care of your Father.

It sounds like your situation may be more urgent than my suggestions above can handle. So permit me to ask a few questions..

1) Do you have ANY income whatsoever?
2) What's wrong with the car and how much would it take to fix it?
3) Are you a full time student, and do you need the car to get to school?
4) How bad sick is your dad? Is he expected to recover soon? If he does recover.. does he receive income?

More information would allow us to help you further.

Hope your dad gets better and you get the answers you're looking for.

The transmission is out in my car (and the fan belt I think, but that is minor), the shop I have it in said it would be around $2000 to fix.
The car wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't with my dad. His health is failing, so his chances of recovering are...not exactly up there. My mother works and my dad has been collecting disability for quite some time.
My mom is looking into some sort of advance from her boss, and we're trying to avoid any of those quick pay-day loans.
I've considered just finding a way to travel where I live (plane, bus, train), but my apartment is an hour away from the school, so transportation would be rough. I am a full time student as well, and until a few months ago I had been actively searching for a job for...maybe a year before the dad stuff popped up.

Very sorry to hear about your dad. Do they live in the apartment with you... or do they live closer/farther away from the school you attend?

A new transmission IS an expensive repair and will take awhile to do as well. Usually takes the shop 3+ days to fix in some cases.

I guess the primary goal is to make sure get to school somehow.. and that your rent is paid.

Is there anyone who lives in your area that you can carpool with for school?

For your dad, prayer.
