Hi all... I've just completed my commerce degree, majoring in finance and am currently undertaking an Honours degree in finance. For this I am required to write a dissertation.

Now I have no idea what to write it on as I have no idea what I want to be doing in the finance industry. I'm open to suggestions regarding both a dissertation topic and a direction in the field of finance.

As for what to write - I'd strongly recommend any area that has a particular interest.

It doesn't matter whether it's an area you may or may not want to specialise in - but from my own experience, simply choosing a specific you have any degree of passion about can definitely be helpful.

That's what everyone has been telling me, write about something that I have an interest in. problem is I have no idea what topics I can write about or on what areas? If I had a list to choose from then it would be much easier as I would be able to look into each of the topics and choose what I have an interest in. Hope that makes sense?

Pick a subject that is and will always affect our country. Example: the housing market in relation to investment strategies.
Large investors such as Merrill Lynch have a diverse investment portfolio and they ventured into Mortgage Backed Securities and lately they have panicked about the foreclosure and delinquency rate for homeowners.
The subject is interesting and a lot of data is available. In the early 1980's we had the S&L bailout and this current situation is similar.
