I'm a First-Time buyer looking to get a mortgage next year, but frankly I have no idea about the different types of mortgage available.

I know there's capital repayment, and an investment option that replaces the old discredited endowment mortgages - but I'm sure there's another type of mortgage out now where they tie your repayments to your current account or something.

Any useful guides out there on the different types of mortgage available?

Personally I'd be wary of any kind of investment mortgages. Look too much look endowment mortgages under a different name to me.

You really should get personal advice on your personal circumstances - try a couple of lenders and brokers, and see which common denominators in the recommendations they make, and the reasoning why. That should hopefully help get you started in the right area.
