As you may know Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing, had a great start. According to some news, it started to overtake Yahoo. Bing also grabbed market share from Google.
Is it possible? I don’t think so. People’s habit is hard to change and most of us is using Google as the default homepage. I think more creative ideas and some vision is needed to overtake Google. |

Google is very secure in it's position. Plus, MANY people have some very good reasons not to abandon it. There is their PR ranking system, Google Ad Sense, Google Docs, Gmail, etc, all which will help them from being dislodged in the market. They are not search engines, but it gives them a huge amount of power on the internet. Bing would need to contribute something at least as major in order to knock Google back. Plus, people just don't love Microsoft and its products the same way anymore. Google has the brand image.

I'm doubtful as to whether Google could ever have any real competition. That said, I do like Bing's list of related searches that appears on the left hand side. If you type in a general product, it will list related search results for brands, advice or reviews for that product.

I've just started working in a new office and Bing comes standard on their computers, tried it but not as efficient as Google I found, but maybe that's because I'm used to working google so I know how to plug in my info for best results? Anyway I'm happier with google right now ..

Im a Google user through and through and am not looking to change it anytime soon - I am happy with it and it always gives me better reults than anything else out there! If anything else ever even slightly comes up to scratch then I may try it - but it would have to be really good hehe!

I've done extensive personal tests and found Google gives better results than Bing for what I tend to search for. Interestingly, though, Bing throws up much more relevant results in the image search.

Hi guys,
I had never heard of Bing until now - just tested it out and I know for a fact I will never use it!! It's great that Microsoft is still bringing out new stuff but what's the point!? How is Bing ever going to compare to Google? It does the same job which is great but, when people get used to something, it takes a lot to change their ways. I could easily log onto Bing everyday and do my searches however I automatically type in Google and know exactly how it works so why would I change!? Is Bing exactly the same as Google? Or does it have it's own USPs??? |

Personally, I like Google way more than Bing or Yahoo. If it hasn't already, I'm sure Bing will overtake Yahoo at the #2 spot behind Google. I agree with Aurelia that Google has secured it's spot as the #1 search engine and should be there for a while. A main reason why Bing will climb past Yahoo is that I believe Internet Explorer's standard homepage is MSN. Many computer users keep this as their homepage and begin to use Bing more frequently.

I agree, Google will be pretty hard to take over and habit is hard to break. I always use Google partially because it is quick and easy to type. Plus Google has turned itself into a verb "I Googled french toast yesterday and found an awesome recipe." See?
