Default Check Made Out to Bank

Hi,
I have a checking account with Bank of America and I overdrafted a few times and ended up with a negative $250 balance. I didn't have the money to pay all the overdraft fees, so for my birthday my parents gave me a $250 check made out to Bank of America to pay off all the fees. Even though I had the check to pay off the fees, I decided to call Bank of America just to complain about the fees because Ive never had so many overdraft fees at one time. I'm glad I called to complain because they refunded all of the fees and I ended up having no overdraft fees. Now I am stuck with a $250 check made out to Bank of America from my parents. Is there any way that I can deposit this check into my account so I have the $250, or does the check have to be made out in my name? If not, then I am stuck with a check made out to Bank of America that I can't cash.

Thanks,
mbmiles88

Have you considered using a prepaid debit card? You could ask your parents to fund one for you with the overdraft fee gift that they gave you. The beauty of such a card is that when the money is gone, you can't overspend. The card simply won't approve the purchase. It could be a great tool to use just for your spending money and leave the rest of your money in your checking account to pay for your household bills.
