Hi Charlie,
I understand that it is difficult to get removed from ChexSystems but, if the bank was truly at fault, there should be some way of getting them to remove it. While I can't give you specific information on that however, as a financial planner, I have become aware that some banks and credit unions will still allow you to open an account even if you are on ChexSystem including US Bank (if there is one in your area). Although I would do everything I could to get removed from ChexSystem, at least you'll be able to do your banking in the meantime. |

Thanks for the response MoneyPro. I actually looked up US Bank and they have a couple locations near me. Granted, the closest branch is like 35 miles from me, it will still be something worth looking into.
Any advice on how I should approach the bank? I still haven't found out anything as far as how much, or what happened, to where I owe my previous bank money. I have the paperwork from when I closed out the accounts, and like I said, I'm sure there were no pending transactions before I closed the account. I did request a copy of my chexsystems report from the chexsystems website, so hopefully I'll get it soon. Thanks Charlie |

If it were me, I would start by talking with the branch manager and then going to corporate if that didn't work. But in all honesty, I don't have any experience with this type of discussion. As far as US Bank is concerned, in California, they have clearly informed me that someone who is on ChexSystems can open a no-restrictions account. Hopefully it is the same where you are.
Good Luck! |
