I got a child savings amount of £250 from the goverment in the UK!
I just put it with the first one that came along I guess I diddnt realise there was so much of an option when it came to different savigns acounts!
I only wish I had found this forum before putting it in!
Is there any rules around within the accounts that stops you getting the cash out and changing saving suppliers etc!

The paypal market account sounds great. I never had a savings account for my kids. Being young I never really thought about it. But I sure wish I would have. So all you young parents do it. It is tyhe best thing you can do.

Paypal is an online account and although it is recognized worldwide, it is still not advisable to invest or place or even store too much money in your accounts. Your Paypal account is as good as your password and there is always a greater risk than when you save your money in some local banks.

I never new there was such risk in a paypal account. Maybe I'll just go to my regular bank and start up a savings account for my kids.

Be sure to shop around - even within local banks. Some insurance companies now offer savings options that pay a higher percentage than the traditional banks. Online banks offer higher rates as well.

As for safety - it's my understanding that all banks information is online so by this standard all banks are at risk. Would this be correct?
