Default Closing accounts 0 balance

Hi all I have a situation

I worte to terminate a banking account and transfered the money out. They did not close it and I just checked it. It has a maintenance fee and overdraft fee now has an account of - $50. What should I do?

Can they send me to a debt collector or trash my credit?

I definitely would not mess around with this. If you wrote them a letter to close out the account I would give them a call and ask them why they did not close the account when you request them to. Act nicely at first and perhaps they will just take care of it for you.

This is why you don't write a letter like that, there is no confirmation that the account was closed! You need to contact a CSR directly (either in a branch or over the phone) in order to be sure.
