Default Coming off the deeds.

approx 10 years I helped my father and his new wife to get a mortgage by coming in with them . they couldn't get one by themselves. Although this is just on paper and I don't pay any money in towards the mortgage they now want me off the deeds. As they came into money and have now bought the house out right. A solicitors letter arrived for me today asking for the amount I expected to receive in respect of the transfer. Does anyone know if I am entitled to anything? I have not spoke to my family in years due to conning me in the first place. I have not been able to get a mortgage as I am on theirs

If you are on the deed then in effect you have a lien on the property. They should not be able to sell or refinance without your permission.

Does anyone understand the word honest any more. You put nothing in, it is your father, and now you want money.

Being listed as an owner is not a lien.

Not unless they wrote a contract restricting each others activities do they need her permission to do anything other then remove her name.

Ultimately trying to get something will totally ruin your relationship and is that something you want.

You should be happy now since they got some money and paid off the loan on their house it means the mortgage you signed for has been paid off. That will have a positive impact on your credit score and now you should be able to get a loan to buy your own home assuming you qualify otherwise. You are not otherwise entitled to anything financially, you just basically did them a favor.
