A few years ago I made some bad choices with regard to my credit cards, make x amount on monthly income, after deducting my bills I am left with $600.00 a month. My problem is that my bills come in at a different times hence I sometimes fall behind. My car payment is $250 a month but $117.00 goes towards interest. Is there a way to get a loan to pay this off plus two credit cards with a total balance of $3100? my credit score isn't the best though, any help will be great

How long have you had this job? It looks like if you're having 3100 total credit card balances, your combined minimum payments must be somewhere around $80 a month unless you're interest is deadly on the cards.
So with your car loan you are making $330 a month in payments and you have $600 left over after payments. You're spending 330 out of about 930 of your income or about 35.5% of your income. So your debt to income ratio shouldn't be a problem if you can explain to a banker you want a loan to pay off your other debt. You say your credit isn't the best, are we talking lack of history? or missed payments? medical or other bills not being paid? Do you have a rough idea of how high your credit score is? Here are a couple of suggestions that I can make because I don't have all of the numbers to give out some good advice. #1 To possibly solve the payments coming in at different times you may be able to call your credit card companies and request that they change your due dates so they are more convenient for you. #2 If your credit score is below 620, you may want to either have a friend or family member cosign on a personal loan to pay off your debt, or, go in and talk to a local banker in your area that you may have accounts with already. Someone who can make the decision for a loan on the spot that you can talk to instead of using a big bank. #3 If your credit score is above 620 and you can show 2 years of consistent employment, then you may be able to receive a personal loan to consolidate that debt from almost any bank. If you can provide more details I can perhaps give you some more direct advice. Hope this helps. |

I agree with #1 and #3 of vanman's three suggestions but #2 is is something I would not recommend at all.
Don't get friends or family involved with this, you never know what will happen to you in the future and to get friends/family involved with anything that has to do with debt is a good way to loose that relationship. Of course, it could go well but just to take that risk in order to sort out your financial mistakes seems like a risk not worth taking, at least in my opinion.
