Default Consolidating Debt??

Is there a bank out there that would give me a loan to consolidate my student loans ($15,000) and all of my credit cards ($11,000)? I know when I would file my app for a $26,000 loan they would be like hell no because of my debt to income ratio, but getting that large loan to pay off all on my smaller loans would equal out, but I don't think they would see it like that. WOuld it be best to talk to a loan officer and tell them my plan?

Contact the lender that gave you the student loan, or the one that is servicing them, they may consolidate the loan for you with a longer amortization which can in turn lower your payments. Be sure to ask for a lower interest rate as well.
To lower your credit card payment i suggest you contact a Nonprofit Credit Counseling Agency. I work for one such agency and I know our certified credit counselors are usually able to negotiate with the credit card companies on your behalf to lower the interest rate and to stop some of the fees you may be getting. I agree with you that a bank most likely will not give you an unsecured loan to consolidate your unsecured debt. If you want more information you can call 1-800-568-4545

I am not too concerned about lowering my payments. I have never been late either. I would just like to get a loan to eliminate all of my CC debt and it would be easier to pay off in my opinion. I have $11,000 in CC debt, there is no way I will pay it off in 5 years. I know I could put all of my extra money towards this and pay it down, but being realistic, thats not going to happen every pay check. I have to have a life too. Whereas if I have a loan with a term of five years, I would make the monthly payment and it would be gone in 5 years. I have convinced myself to not use them anymore, and make my cash work between paychecks.

You run the risk of getting yourself in a deeper debt. Negotiating with your creditors for a lower interest rate and lower monthly payment, or an alternative payment plan, is a method you can handle on your own, without any "professional" help. However, taking out a loan when you are already in debt doesn't seem efficient. You might just end up paying more.

I dont know if you own a home. But if you do, take out a second mortgage instead. With home mortgages you get to write off the interest on your taxes, which is a nice little bonus
