Red face debt payments

How many years do Pennsylvania residents have to pay off medical bills and such?
And -- Are Pennsylvanians safe from suits and collection procedures as long as they make steady payments in any amount?

Need to know!

I can tell you what my Aunt and Uncle do. They have no insurance and have alot of medical bills and they have been paying 10.00 on each bill a month. They also live in PA. They have been doing this for awhile now and of course they were not happy but they are taking the payments and so far nothing has been done.

I have heard that if you are making an honest attempt they have to take the payments, no matter how small. Only the IRS can get blood from a stone.

That's exactly right. I have heard the same thing if you are making some kind of payment they cannot do a whole lot.

I think maybe they can *suggest* a higher monthly payment but not
actually do anything to enforce it. If the person paying it (like $10 a
month) can increase it a little bit at some point, everyone including
the payer should be happier because it's paid off that much sooner.
