Sorry to hear about your problem. You've taken a brave step trying to combat the problem, so well done for that.
I actually wrote similar post about this earlier last week, but basically bankruptcy is NOT the answer! Let me explain why...
With bankruptcy, that your credit score will be negatively affected for 5-10 years. That means that if you want a mortgage or buy something on credit, you will not be able to do this for this period of time. Yes, it's an option - but only a very last option!
I would suggest contacting a Consumer Counseling Agency.. This is where the agency will act as middle-men & negotiate with your creditors on your behalf & work out an amount that you can afford to repay each month.. This payment is a consolidated single monthly payment which you can afford to pay all your creditors. Of course, this repayment will contain a fee for the agency, but it will mean a huge weight off your shoulders. Look one up in your local area!
