Default Financial Analyst/Advisor Question

Hi, my first thread here. This is a great forum by the way.

I'm a sophomore in college, and I'm majoring in Finance.

My problem is this, I'm torn between Financial Analyst and Financial Planner.

I have a general understanding between the two and understand they differ in many ways.

My question is this, which career do you think suits what personality?
Planner needs to be more socially active and Analyst can be more socially reclusive? (Just an example.)

Thank you.

I think you answered your own question.

A financial planner will sit down and meet with people, talk about their goals, check their assets and expenses, and give them guidelines on how they can reach their goals.

If helping people is something that you're interested in the area of finance.. become a financial planner.

On the other hand.. if crunching numbers, creating charts, identifying patterns and trends excites you.. become a financial analyst.

You'll know if you've chosen the right path when it "feels" right.

I guess I did. Thanks.

Any Financial Analyst want to give their feedback on their job?
Is it stressful for you, high pace, and etc?

One more, I know Financial Planner can have variety of ways to make money (commission, fee only, sales, and etc.)
Does Financial Analyst have similar things as well? Or is it just a base salary?

Usually a salary. They aren't in any position to interact with clients, so they can't earn commission. If they own an economic, or stock market research firm they can earn income on fees.
