Default Great Credit, need larger personal loan

Anyone out there know any institution that does large (40-50K)long term (10 years), low interest loans? I have never missed a payment on anything in my life and have a substantial amount of debt from old school loans which i rolled into credit debt (dumb mistake at age 21). Then life happened...we are settled now and since I have excellent credit no debt relief programs work for me. I don't want to go bankrupt, not necessary, and am willing to pay the debt back- i just need a lower payment every month. It really is upsetting to me that there are no options for people like me- I have a Masters Degree, employed and own a home (the way the market is we can't get a home equity line). My husband also is employed and has excellent credit. The credit companies really seem to want you to go bankrupt rather than work with you to extend loans. Which is CRAZY seeing I just need to stretch things out so we aren't so crunched every month. Any ideas?

Please don't suggest "cutting back" or getting another job- it has all been done

You say not to suggest cutting back or getting another job, but I did want to tell you about a thread I just started in General finance about ways to save or earn more money a month. Some of the suggestions aren't much fun.

You didn't say if you have children or what kind of a job you and your husband have. I wanted to tell you about one other job that people don't always think about.

Assuming you have lived a very straight life, there are organizations that pay you a wage for sleeping. By law, they must pay you minumum wage, more often than not, they pay more than that.

These jobs often deal with clients who are developmentally disabled (formerly known as mentally retarded). I worked in a place such as this. The hardest thing is usually they have someone who sleeps in 4-5 nights and they need a relief person or someone who will float from house to house.

My shift was 10 1/2 hours, so usually I got a decent night's sleep. The mornings were a bit hectic and sometimes all three clients could be a handful, but it was a good job to have while going to school.
