I may be wrong here, but so far as I understand it, a big part of your credit rating is based on your actual debt, and therefore proven capacity to handle debt.

After all, a credit rating is essentially a rating of your creit (ie, debt) management.

So no debt can make for a low rating.

I have no credit cards. and I really do not want one at least not right now am wrong. Should I really have one just I would need it?

I do no for a fact that you will not get good credit unless you already have a credit rating!
Stupid as it sounds but its definatly true!

There are lots of ways to "get credit" without getting a credit card. The best way is a secured personal loan (preferablly based on a savings account or CD). At the end of the term you pay the money back. Building your credit will cost about $20 or so and you will never have to deal with those pesky credit card companies.

I heard that I had to have a credit card to build my credit. It was while I was in college. I got my card and only succeeded in building my debt. I think it's a myth started by the credit card companies.

Amazing you have to go into debt to get credit so you can get more debt.... Secured loans seem to help you alot. Like a car. Having one or two credit cards doesn't hurt as long as you keep the balance low.

Silly me but I have not found where can I use a good credit rating although I assume that I do have a good credit rating as I pay my credit cards always on time. I hope that credit rating does not depend on how much I charge because I only charge small amounts...lol
