I heard this from a show last year. Someone mentioned that having no or just one credit card, with little transactions, could be bad for your rating. Can somone explain why this would be the case, even if you have low debt.

There are lots of ways to "get credit" without getting a credit card. The best way is a secured personal loan (preferablly based on a savings account or CD). At the end of the term you pay the money back. Building your credit will cost about $20 or so and you will never have to deal with those pesky credit card companies.

Amazing you have to go into debt to get credit so you can get more debt.... Secured loans seem to help you alot. Like a car. Having one or two credit cards doesn't hurt as long as you keep the balance low.

Silly me but I have not found where can I use a good credit rating although I assume that I do have a good credit rating as I pay my credit cards always on time. I hope that credit rating does not depend on how much I charge because I only charge small amounts...lol
