Hey everyone,
Just a quick question.I in Syd Australia. I just went into the bank to sign off on my personal loan application which had been approved in principle and all employment checks etc everything cleared. I was taking my payslips and bank statement etc in this morning to complete it. When I met with the lender he said for some reason they had declined it this morning and it had something to do with the "General Crime Division". They are asking for further documentation, a Tax Assessment and 2 utility bills. I have never had any charges (the worst a speeding fine) and neither have any of my family members. Does anyone know what this may be about or have heard of it before?? Any advise would be great. |

I'm not from AU, but I would be willing to bet they have some kind of background check on personal loans that possibly flagged something? Ask him for a copy of the "General Crime Division" notice that he received. A lot of times in the US they will give you full documentation on why your loan was not accepted. Hope this helps.

Here in the UK there are strict money laundering rules - and it sounds like in your situation they are simply asking for further documentation. That shouldn't be a big problem - just a minor annoyance.
