Default How does one provide a rental agreement between family?

Hope I can get some help on this....

I am looking into applying for financial assistance in Canada but they are asking me to provide them with my rental agreement. I pay rent monthly to my mom that I live with which helps to pay the bills for her. But we never had any such rental agreement. I paid her $400-$500 a month and if I couldn't pay that to her I paid what I could.

So what exactly do I do here to show them of this expense I have? There is no rental agreement between us that is written just verbal.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Here in the states, many lending institutions except proof of payment such as canceled checks, if you have that see if that is acceptable
