Default How good is online banking?

Anyone have any information on a good online bank? I wanted to create a checking account specifically for work. Where I could deposit and receive money, and also set up to do online bill payments, and maybe one with some nice perks for signing up.

Hrmm. I still use a local bank that allows me to do what i want online. Wellsfargo is a good online bank where you can open an account from any location though if you needed that. I still care about where that bank is located though, you even know when you have to make a appearance.

In the UK there's ING which seemed pretty good. Nearly went with them, but then HSBC pitched in to persuade me to stay with some of their freebies.

Thank you guys. I think I might just try Wellsfargo. I have heard a lot of good things about them. I'm just not happy with the local banks where I live, they have very rude customer service and I just like the conveince of being able to do everything online.

I'm not crazy about WellsFargo. I'm not sure if I would recommend them. Maybe you should look into Bank of America. They have branches, but you could also opt to do all of your transactions online. Check Conumer Reports, they will list the best online banks and those with the best interest rates.

What dont you like about wellsfargo? I used them briefly and thought the system was very easy to set up a account. They also watch for international wire transfers and other scams. Seemed like a good bank to me.

I looked into bank of America and Wells Fargo I must admit I like WellsFargo a lot better. Bank of America's website is to cluttered. Wells had a saving calculator that showed how much I could save if I used them. They have a student account with no monthly fee, and I could still get a regulat check card to make purchases with. I just have to complete the application now, but I can't find my drivers license!

Does anyone here go with online banks which are solely online and do not have branches you can walk into? Something about that makes me awfully nervous.

Actually, I have a business account with Abbey which is all online and postal only. No branch support.

It was a bit weird getting used to at first, but now it's not a hassle at all.

I have an account in ICICI bank of Indian origin. They have a branch in UK also. This bank offers an excellent service in India....! They also have online share trading . I find their services satisfactory....!

I have to agree, it makes me very nervous, too. That said, my business partner is in another state and we've thought about doing this for a few years. It would be great for our business but I've hesitated checking into it. ING has been recommended to us and I'll check WellsFargo and Bank of America, too. If I can get to feeling comfortable with one of them, I definitely want to use it for a business account.

I use Smart Money Transfer. This is popular in Germany. I am contented with the service.

Online banking was a wonderful idea. It is great to watch what you are spending everyday and have acess to view it daily. Its a lot more convienent then waiting for the monthly statements.

Online banking is very convenient. You can make transaction right away. Banks are now making sure that their system is secured. For instance one bank provides an external key which generates your password if you log on to your account and make transactions.
