I use HSBC here in Hong Kong and the steps they use to ensure security is almost a little too much. They provide an "token" which changes the password every minute. The downside is if you type it wrong 3 times they lock you out and to activate again is a real pain. Online banking is great when you see how long lines are.

To the OP, I wouldn't be too worried, just be careful what computers you use to log onto your account and keep your anti-virus on. Not only that don't sign in on public computers and try to avoid dealing with companies you know little about. Try online banking out, I'm sure once you start it you'll reason that it's the only choice. Sort of like going from dial up to broadband, you never go back.

The most important part of securing your online banking is ensuring that the computer you are loggin in from is virus and spyware free. Avoid using public computers for your online banking and secure your personal computer, these are 2 important things to do.
