Investing in a Startup Online Lottery Company
Hey guys i know this is probably not the specific forums to ask this question but possibly a good way to get some decent thoughts and opinions (if you guys are financial planners or investment professionals)
Brief background of myself: Im 21 just finished an IT degree and now working as a network engineer, so i am clueless on most if not all financial areas. Plus i have no family to ask their opinions.
The investment opportunity: To invest in a lotto company (Name: The Player's lotto Slogan "The best odds on the planet". Basically this company is an online company (based in Curacao, island in carribean) that takes 120 investors, investing $25k each totalying 3million. Basically this lotto company is going to try sell itself by offering $10million doller pot to the winner $250, 000 for the second place winner and $50, 000 for 3rd place.
Basically what happens is the company sells 300,000 tickets to people. Each ticket is worth $50. They only sell 300,000 tickets. So each person that buys a ticket has a chance (1 in 300, 000 chance) to win $10million USD and 2nd prize and so forth. So they sell 300,000 tickets world wide, once they do they draw the Lottery. One person will win.
Investor Proposal: So if you buy 1 share in the business (120 total, 25k each). After the first lottery (when 300k tickets are sold) and game complete. Each shareholder gets $7000 return. (this is based on simple math no mentioned here because i cant be bothered outlining how but just do simple math like 300k tickets generates 15million which is used to pay each investor.
Business Owners: Business owners are reputable business owners in Canada. Ill keep this brief because i could outline their ownership and the likes.
Does this sound shifty from the get go. What solid questions and scoping could i do to get a really good idea and feel out. I have been given a business plan and it all seems legit but i have no idea. Such as where does the money go and who holds all the money.
Anyones insight (who has the skill and education/experience (being a advisor) would be awesome.
