Have you ever considered renting yourself, perhaps something cheaper than what your renting at. Sometimes you may be able to rent out half of the house as well (if you don't plan on living with someone). I would say a mortgage probably wouldn't work because of how difficult it is to get a mortgage right now. Even if you did find a mortgage it would probably be difficult to pay off. Hope that helps!

There are many reasons to rent and many to buy. It depends on your goals. If I were single, I would probably rent cheap, so that I could save money to pay cash for a home.

Paying cash for home is not a realistic goal for most people, however putting a solid down payment is doable and should always be done.
