Default Need help please!!

Here is the situation. In Jan 2008 my mom had her identity stolen and she opened up a new checking acct. She added my name as beneficiary. She has her own checks and I have nothing to do with her acct. When her bank statement arrived it showed both of our names. I thought that was odd because before, when I was a beneficiary my name never appeared on her statements. My mom then reapplied for the $500 overdraft protection that she had before. I had to also fill out an application and don't know why because I don't utilize her acct. Her 3 FICO Scores are well over 700. Short story is she was denied the overdraft protection because 5 years ago I had a bankruptcy. We went to the bank and they said the only way to get my name off the acct. is to open up another new one. It was so confusing because I am only a beneficiary. Was the banker correct in saying that my name could not be removed?

In any case, my mom lives in a condo and the owner is in preforeclosure. When she starts looking for another place to live and they want to check into her checking acct. and my name is still on the acct. will she be denied a place to live?

I am at my wits end because I just don't know what to do.

Ask the bank for proof where you signed as a co-owner of the account, when they can't supply it tell them to remove you from the account.

Also may just be easier and quicker to do what they suggest and close the accou t and have your mom open a new one.
