Default Pay It Forward - Help to pay off Credit Card Debt

Greetings,

I am in process of starting a website where you can contribute a small donation of $5.00 or more depending on your own situation to help me get out from $56k of Credit Card debt. With just a $5 donation received from about 10,000 participants we can be free from our Credit Card debt and begin to help others resolve their credit card debt in the same manner. This is not a scam and we do want to provide the same generosity to others once we are relieved of this debt.

In turn once my debt is paid off I am going to PayItForward to 3 other families adopt their credit card debt and help them to pay it off in the same manner. Once each member is paid off in full they will be required to contribute $60-$100 a month for 1 year towards helping other families to pay off their debt. I hope to help at least 1000 families in our first year. We are not a charity or a non-profit biz at this point, maybe after we get enough contributions to assit with paying off our debt we can start the charity / non-profit so that you can receive this tax benefit with your donation.

Please let me know if you are interested and I will send you our website and email address so that you may review more information about our plan and mission.

Thank you for your time and generosity.

Thia is a fabulous idea! Here I am online searching SOMEWAY to get my debt paid down. I have 60,000 of debt- mostly from getting 5 kids through college and throwing 4 weddings! I am a teacher - working 2 jobs- and my husband is a firefighter- 1 week from retirement. I will be "dying at the desk" unless we can get this debt paid off. I also owe 50,000 in student loans and 200,000 in 2nd mortgages. I am totally behind a "pay it forward" program. Let me know what I can do!

I feel for both of you. Treilly, the issue you may run into is that with so, so many people in debt in this country, how would you convince someone to donate to you, even if just $5? The PayItForward idea seems like a good idea on the surface, but people will need to trust that you will do this, which will be a hard thing, dealing over the internet.

I wish you both the best of luck. You might think about other ways to start getting out of debt, including the Dave Ramsey or John Commuta strategies (just google them). Or google Debt Relief to find other options. There is no easy solution, but there are many hard solutions, that work if you are committed.

I think you have quite a challenge. It is important to get into financial control. List your spendings compared to your income. In order to get out of debt you need to save more money.

Be brutally honest to yourself and list your spendings. Ask yourself what could be changed or cut.

And ask yourself every time when you want to buy something: Do I really need this or do I want this? My experience is that you can spend less if you really want to.

It takes time and discipline to get out of debt but it is possible. Motivate yourself to stay on track by imaging what it will bring you when you get out of debt. Writing this down and reading this daily works even better to motivate yourself, is my experience.

Good luck

If you want a real solution, read The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. People should look for their solutions when they have 5.00 on a credit card they cannot pay.

In all honesty, I think it's lazy - you are basically talking about begging as a means to pay off your debt.

Why not consider things such as selling what you don't need, cutting down on expenditure, and taking on extra work to create extra income for paying off debts.

The concept is nice, but it's been tried before and hasn't worked. Unfortunately if you have a lot of debt you need to make hard, fast decisions. The best options for you are debt settlement or bankruptcy. My debt relief program has helped thousands in your situation. Contact me for more details.

Its a great idea and it comes from the heart. But many people would find this as sort of scammy and would be very unsure of it. Also how could you commit the others to pay 60-100 after there process is over? I would suggest settlement also even though your idea is a heartfelt one i just do not see it working. Get yourself out of debt with debt settlement on your own or through a company and get it out of the way and then if you still want to help people, you atleast will be financially ok

This is mor then lazy it is dishonest to yourself. Me and my wife despite living in a ity of mass job cuts including mine, managed to pay down over $50,000 in cedit card and other consumer debt in one year.

Any on can do it but you have to stop fooling yourself ad accept your owned responsibility. I am willing to help any one and hav even setup a website to do provide people with free budgeting help. All i takes is you gettig off the couch and taking control of your spending habits, when your done yo will wonder why you weren't smart enough to start sooner.

Certainly an interesting concept, it might be worth a try. I was pretty far in debt but got assistance from free federal grants. I found out the government has to give away certain amounts of money each year to people that need it and I applied and got enough to cover my debt and get back on track. This has worked for a lot of people that I know and asked me how I did it so I guess it's a pretty well kept secret. This is definitely something any of you should look into before taking any life altering steps, you can visit my blog in my sig. for more info on how I did it and how you can too. I'm trying to help people that are in the situation I was, it was the most horrible feeling in the world and now that I've relieved my debt problems I want others to gain that freedom too.

Completely agree...it's almost like those people on Ebay trying to "sell their debt"
