Re: Perosnal Loan for 699 Credit
1. you don't need a $15K wedding. I planned mine on $3000. I live in the Boston area and went outside of the city. Got a nice hall, dinner and food/champ for 50 people, and his tux/my dress for that w/ money left over. Surely you know someone with a camera, and someone who could play some music for you on an ipod. I'm a woman and IMO, anyone who spends more than $5K or so on a wedding needs to have their head examined. Anyone who takes a loan for or charges a wedding needs to just re-examine their priorities.
2. your credit sucks. I'm sure your future wife would rather you use the money you have to fix your credit and not blow it on a one day party. Do not take out a loan. If you do, you're going to get a horrible interest rate.
3. Your income isn't terrible, but if you need a huge loan to pay for a wedding than I suspect you have other debt. I postponed my wedding because I didn't feel that we were financially secure enough yet to have a good start to our life together. You and your fiance should sit down and really discuss finances, credit and make a budget and financial plan. Money is the #1 cause of divorce.
You asked for advice. Well, this is it. I'm sure some others have thought the same but didn't want to write it out.
