I was just wondering, Do you think now would be a good time to get a realtor license? Here is my thinking:
market is in the tank right now, but everyone will have to have a place to live. Houses are for sale and while it is slow, I could just keep my day job. Then when the economy settles at where it wants to be, I will have had my license and some experience. This will put me above the new comers. I am willing to invest in my future now, as the cost is not very much. The reason I post this question is, I want to make sure I haven't missed anything. I know I have to attend classes and take a test. I have to take on going classes every 4 years. I can do this in my spare time or as a part time job. |

I have a real estate license, in recent one year, the market brought me nothing, and I quit the job now, but I will do the real estate job again when the market back. You need to renew the license every two year , not four years.

It depends on what state you live in as far as the renewal. You can also definitely use the time to start putting the word out that you are working as a real estate agent on weekends. As you let friends and family know, and get your license set up with a broker, you could end up getting the friend deal and be on your way to your first referrals!

In the United States, it is necessary to obtain a real estate license before you can earn money selling real estate. Each state has specific licensing requirements. However, every state requires prospective real estate agents to complete a training course. Furthermore, every state requires prospective agents to take and pass a real estate licensing exam.
