Through my bank I tried to get a personal secured loan with my car as collateral. The bank said the car was too old. I have a poor credit rating and am not trying to get a huge amount ($6,000) but I don't know which way to go. I'm a bit scared to try applying for loans on-line because of the scams.
Does anyone have any advice???? |

Alternatively, you could try to get a credit card with an available balance in that amount. Just be mindful of interest rates on credit cards. In my opinion you would be better off with a traditional loan. |

Recently I have heard that Lending Tree and Ditec fund relatively few loans and actually make their money off a non-refundable application fee. Not sure if this is true, but be very cautious in dealing with anyone asking for money up front. As far as the unsecured bank loan, you will have a better chance with the credit cards because at the higher rate, they take bigger risks, but if your credit is bad they will give you $300, not $6000 dollars. You will probably have to get an extra job to come up with that much money, unless you have wealthy relatives.
