Default Saving Money

I consider myself pretty thrifty, but there is only so much I will do to save money. I still like to have my cafe mochas and I'll only turn the thermostat down so much in the winter because after all, my feet do get cold. Look at this though...it's off an article on how to save money:

sleep in airports, don’t buy a TV - watch YouTube, raise your own chickens, don’t eat (fast once in a while), shave less often, turn out the lights (save electricity) & meditate in the dark (reduce your stress levels)

besides limiting my buying of snacks and desserts, i take the 8-minute walk from the tutorial center i work in to the road where i can take a jeepney ride. for the holidays, instead of buying all my presents for my loved ones, i am making some of them from scratch.

Shop sales. This is a hand me down from my very thrifty mother. It's hard for me to buy anything at the regular price any more. The only exception is food shopping, though I do try to stock up on specials and use coupons.

I don't mind shopping thrift. As long as you can find good clean clothes that are current, who cares if they've been worn once before? It's a HUGE savings.

I also consider my self as very thrifty. I hate spending it with no sense when I shop. Even my family, when they ask me for any amount it should be intended for their needs. I prioritize needs than our wants.

Where you shop also makes a difference, because some stores carry goods that substitute expensive goods but they are cheap. The other thing is what helps a saving drive is to cut out on the luxury items.

Some of them might sound funny but I guess things like saving on electricity is worth paying heed to and following...

I try to save money in small ways. I do go to thrift stores for certain things, and try not to waste my miney on alot of junk food. And I only buy things when they are on sale.

I tend not to spend unless i have to. That way i can save up, though i will at one point spend it all at once.

That's a pretty interesting article. However, some of the measures do seem a bit extreme.

Yeah a couple of them seem pretty extreme to be honest but they could be useful as well.

I don't have a cell phone or cable/satellite TV. That probably gives me an extra $1200 a year.

I love to cook and feel you save a lot when you cook yourself, making multiple meals from one idea. I'm also a good cook and find there is not that much out there anyways that gets me excited, at least where I live in the Orlando area.

One way to save on trips and to get free hotels whether it is in the US or Europe, is belong to the Hilton Honors reward program. I went to Europe for 3 weeks staying at the Hilton free because of this.
