Anyone here tried blogging for an income? I just started my own blog Financing your family and am looking for some other freelance gigs as well on monetized sites.

I have thought about blogging for some extra income but really haven't had the time to look into all that much.
What kills me are the people that see those ads that promise 5,000.00 a month if you do this. I mean come on if that were the case we all would be doing it. |

I've met people who do make that much blogging, but it took them about 3-5 years to be at that level. It was approximately 10000 pages of pure content for one guy before he started to make a livable income.

I don't know much about blogging, I mean I have my own blog but I don't have many people on it and haven't checked it in awhile. I am involved with a couple of sites; however, which aren't scams, which is kinda weird cuz I'm usually pretty skeptical about that kid of stuff.

I do hope you are following this thread you have started. I have only now stumbled into this forum & finding it extremely interesting, both the topics and the people. In my opinion Brian certainly has given good advice, backed by most (if not all) it appears. I have been involved in business since not long after leaving school. Some would not be called successes but I have gained from everything I have done, with a lot of hard work. I would say do something you enjoy, that others either want or have an interest in. From a business perspective, especially when starting out for the first time, just take it a step at a time, plan it out, what you can do, how you can do it... and stick to it (although plans are living and can change, just don't get sidetracked too easily). I would also highly recommend keep your books in order, know the finances of it, how much it will cost, realistically what it can earn... and keep a track of it as too many businesses don't manage their finances, run by guess work and before you know it they go under. Best of luck in what you do, just be cautious, don't expect too much from others & what they offer... and go with your gut instinct. |

Brian,
After reading some of your posts, I feel you would be someone with a good understanding into what I would need to do to setup an online forum in relation to my business which involves home loans and real estate. I am looking for new avenues to market my products such as the internet. Setting up a high profile forum to better educate the public of my experience, products, and services is of interest to me. Any info. on this would be appreciated. Thanks! James |

Mark,
I read your post regarding free lance tips and blogging for income. I am involved in home loans and mortgages and for the first time, I am looking into the internet as a way to market my products and services to the public. Perhaps by blogging. Something I am knew to. I have a couple of ideas: You could help market my services for a generous commission split upon referred clients. Of course your success would be predicated on your ability to generate traffic through blogging or other means. If you have this ability and would be able to perhaps draw traffic to my site, I would be interested in working/brain storming with you in regards to increasing referral traffic for my business. This could mean maybe setting up a forum, or getting together with other bloggers. The bottom line is that mortgage loans pay well per close, getting the traffic is the whole key. Don't know if this is of interest to you or not. But the money is there. Regards, James Bingham National Pacific Mortgage www.np-mortgage.com |

Brian,
I am involved in home loans and mortgages and for the first time, I am looking into the internet as another medium to market my products and services to the public. Perhaps by blogging. Something I am new to. Success with my online venture is predicated on generating traffic through blogging, link exchanges, search engine ranking etc... However, my experience and knowledge in this area is limited. This is why I felt it wouldn't hurt to send you this. If you have any interest and would be able to perhaps draw traffic to my site through various means, I would be interested in working/brain storming with you in regards to increasing referral traffic for my business and make it a win-win for both of us. I don't expect you to partake in this, but the offer is there nonetheless. The bottom line is that mortgage loans pay well per close, getting the traffic is the whole key and I don't have much experience in creating it via the internet. I don't know if this is of interest to you or not and I don't want to come across as greedy or intruding on your time. Any tips, insights would be greatly appreciated. *I would pay very generously for any referrals that were originated through your efforts.
