David

I do hope you are following this thread you have started. I have only now stumbled into this forum & finding it extremely interesting, both the topics and the people.

In my opinion Brian certainly has given good advice, backed by most (if not all) it appears.

I have been involved in business since not long after leaving school. Some would not be called successes but I have gained from everything I have done, with a lot of hard work.

I would say do something you enjoy, that others either want or have an interest in. From a business perspective, especially when starting out for the first time, just take it a step at a time, plan it out, what you can do, how you can do it... and stick to it (although plans are living and can change, just don't get sidetracked too easily).

I would also highly recommend keep your books in order, know the finances of it, how much it will cost, realistically what it can earn... and keep a track of it as too many businesses don't manage their finances, run by guess work and before you know it they go under.

Best of luck in what you do, just be cautious, don't expect too much from others & what they offer... and go with your gut instinct.

Brian,

After reading some of your posts, I feel you would be someone with a good understanding into what I would need to do to setup an online forum in relation to my business which involves home loans and real estate. I am looking for new avenues to market my products such as the internet. Setting up a high profile forum to better educate the public of my experience, products, and services is of interest to me. Any info. on this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

James

Mark,

I read your post regarding free lance tips and blogging for income. I am involved in home loans and mortgages and for the first time, I am looking into the internet as a way to market my products and services to the public. Perhaps by blogging. Something I am knew to.

I have a couple of ideas: You could help market my services for a generous commission split upon referred clients.

Of course your success would be predicated on your ability to generate traffic through blogging or other means. If you have this ability and would be able to perhaps draw traffic to my site, I would be interested in working/brain storming with you in regards to increasing referral traffic for my business. This could mean maybe setting up a forum, or getting together with other bloggers. The bottom line is that mortgage loans pay well per close, getting the traffic is the whole key. Don't know if this is of interest to you or not. But the money is there.

Brian,

I am involved in home loans and mortgages and for the first time, I am looking into the internet as another medium to market my products and services to the public. Perhaps by blogging. Something I am new to.

Success with my online venture is predicated on generating traffic through blogging, link exchanges, search engine ranking etc... However, my experience and knowledge in this area is limited. This is why I felt it wouldn't hurt to send you this.

If you have any interest and would be able to perhaps draw traffic to my site through various means, I would be interested in working/brain storming with you in regards to increasing referral traffic for my business and make it a win-win for both of us. I don't expect you to partake in this, but the offer is there nonetheless.

The bottom line is that mortgage loans pay well per close, getting the traffic is the whole key and I don't have much experience in creating it via the internet.

I don't know if this is of interest to you or not and I don't want to come across as greedy or intruding on your time. Any tips, insights would be greatly appreciated.

*I would pay very generously for any referrals that were originated through your efforts.

To be honest, I generally expect problems when dealing with US companies with mine being a UK one - being able to bank transfer currency isn't something a number of groups I've approached will do, but instead send out a cheque, which incurs monstrous fees to cash. Some US companies won't even work with UK ones.

Because of that, I make a point of focusing on the UK market, but I figure the US market is something I'll continue to keep an eye on, and see what opportunities develop.

Also, please put your site link in your signature, please.

My question then is whether any really honest and knowledgable financial advisors out there can point me to a truly legitimate program on the WWW which will provide true long term, very profitable rewards to this considerably hard working - and rather desperate family supporter/home owner - who is utterly sick of his current job! I would be MOST GRATEFUL for your considered and sound advice. David 50
Hello all,

I'll not open the whole debate here, but I have to disagree about EDC Gold. Though brian has warned exceedingly against the opportunity, he hasn't tried very hard to learn about it. It seems strange that someone who knows little about the opportunity would warn so strongly against it. I have even offered to enlighten brian, but he claims he's too busy to respond at the moment (which has been for quite a few months now, actually). However, I see from this and other topics that he's not as busy with work as he says, and I have the feeling that he never really intended to learn anything more about EDC, but is content to warn against it.

brian (and others who've put EDC down in the past), if you feel differently, then please feel free to correct me, or take me up on the challenge you set me so many months ago. While you continue to put it down (claiming you're too busy to respond without being so busy at all), EDC is still going strong and helping lots of people achieve their goals online. If you'd take the time to learn about it, you'd see that.

I have stated this in other forums, and I'll state it here (and it has nothing to do with EDC Gold)...you don't have to join an existing home business opportunity to make money online or from home. Capitalizing on your talents is one of the best ways to earn! Among my many talents are public speaking and web design. I've turned these into very profitable income streams, creating fully functional websites (even e-commerce enabled) on the side and speaking at Chamber of Commerce/Business Alliance meetings in my local area about marketing (both online and off). I'm also somewhat gifted technically, so I'm now producing movies and podcasts for business clients online. Take what you're good at, and sell it! Find places where others like you gather, and promote yourself. There's not a single place I go without my business card these days! Chances are, if you have an interest in something, so do lots of other people, and many will be willing to purchase from you if you provide good-quality products or services!

I do not doubt that brian or others have experience or sound advice to provide about most financial affairs. However, I do wish he and others wouldn't be so quick to judge programs they know little about (and have no experience with). If you're interested in something, don't let the rantings of one or even a few people turn you away. You must do your own research. There are lots of great programs out here if you'd rather promote something that already exists. You simply have to research them, and find someone to work with who shares similar goals and interests. And if you'd rather not be associated with an existing home business opportunity, then capitalize on your own talents. Either way, you're doing yourself (and your family) a better service being your own boss than working a job.
