Lightbulb New Business ?

If I were to start a new business that needed $7 million of expensive equipment and then another $5 million in other start-up capital. How would I go about financing this without using my own money, family money, friend's money, a bank loan or other sale of shares. I also will own 100% of this business?

Thanks,

MHGuy

Isn't collateral in exchange for a loan?

You're going to need to put your own money up - the likelihood is that banks will not lend to you 100% of business needs, but could go to around 50%.

Also note that someone who is not willing to put a lot of their own money into starting a business is giving a big signal that it's too much risk worth investing in.

Equipment can be leased and there are many benefits to leasing. Try a "day one" lease for as much as possible then use thomas register to find people in the same industry. Calling owners outside your area of business or in the same industry but different brand i.e. manufacturing but clothes vs. car radios. These business owners are easy to talk with and are sometimes ready to invest in "like" industry. You can also procure loans on existing inventory, equipment and recievables. Then let the existing owner "rent" the building/real estate to you. Many different ways to make this deal work. Offer to increase sales and a the "increase in sales" can be applied toward the down payment or equity position. During this economy many new methods are popping up due to lack of lump sum capital! Hope this helps!

The answer to that question is you will not get the money.

Banks want collateral to lend to a business, so unless you invest they will not fund you.

Angel Investors will put up money but they want control, only a total idiot would give you that kind of money on your terms, or a loan shark with terms very favorable to them and they will get the business in the end.

I just stumbled upon this posting and I had to chuckle a bit, because if you were to go down the road of borrowing 12 million, can I say this "Are you insane?" How long before this situation completely blows up and you lose everything?

Before going to start business, it is better to consult good business consultants and financial advisors.

What you really need is good financial guarantees, especially the kind insured by A-rated or better insurance companies.
