I was discussing this in another fourm but thought some here might like to know some tricks/tips I use to make /save money. Also, if anyone else has some awesome ideas to contribute, I'm sure we would all like to know.
From traveling a lot when I was younger and being a full time college student now, I have developed a great skill in saving/making extra money. Some may refer to this as hustling. ![]() I search Craigslist daily for extra side jobs, such as, 2 weeks ago I painted a lady's living room for $150.00 cash and took 3 hours. I also cleaned another lady's apartment for $200.00 and it took about 3-4 hours, helped hang a chain link fence for $20.00/hr and free food/beer. I search the stuff people are selling/free section and buy some things or get them free and resell it. I sell professionally for other people on eBay, Amazon, and other sites. I also search Goodwill, yard sales, ect for stuff to sell. Lastly, you might laugh, but I stroll through neighborhoods on trash night and find tons of cool stuff to resell. Just last week I got a almost new, last years modal, grill and sold it yesterday for $180.00 by putting an ad on Craigslist. This time year is awesome because everyone is Spring cleaning and just start tossing things. Also, it may not be for everyone, but I play the coupon game and use a number of websites to find the best deals, get free stuff, and stack coupons ect. Your not really making money in the sense that you get paid a check but the savings adds up pretty big. I get about $150.00 in groceries a month for about $60.00. I put the difference, $90.00, into my savings since I budgeted for $150.00 and never miss any of it. I even got 6 bottles of BBQ sauce for free after stacking coupons on double coupon day. Gave it away to friends and family, except one for me, of course. I also got a new Schick Quattro razor and 5 blades, 2 bottles of shampoo/conditioner, a box of Kashi bars, a box of tissues, and 2 packs of Zyrtec for free a few weeks ago. All straight from the companies just for answering a few couple minute surveys. Most are 30 seconds or less and just want to know what you like and don't like about something or if you have tried the companies product(s). Here are some websites if anyone is interested. http://www.freebiewatch.com-free stuff from companies http://www.fancast.com-free streaming of tv shows, ect http://www.billshrink.com-find best cell phone deals http://www.couponmom.com-coupons http://www.freeshipping.com-free shipping coupon codes http://www.retailmenot.com-coupon codes http://www.thedollarstretcher.com-more coupons, some printable http://www.thegrocerygame.com- more coupons http://www.insideredbox.com-redbox movie coupon codes I also get 2 Sunday papers at Walmart since the have a 2 for $1.00 deal and take all the coupons to stack in the middle of the month. Then use the rest of the newspaper for shipping supplies. Another cool thing is the red box. For those of you not familiar with it, it's a red movie box that you can rent dvds from, even new releases for $1.00 plus tax. Just pick what you want swip your CC, and it comes out. Just return it the next day before 9PM and you don't get charged anything else or you can keep it another night for another $1.00 They have them all over like places such as Wal Mart, McDonalds ect. I signed up for free movies rentals through their website and get a free movie ever Monday and Wednesday which I rip for my collection. I also like it because I can rent 2-3 movies watch them on a road trip and return them where ever I'm at and get more. Heres a few codes to get you started: DVDONME BREAKROOM REDBOX You can check it out at redbox to get coupon codes, locations, ect. I've rented 20 movies in the last 3 months and never paid for one. And if you have the software you can have your own copy. Another tip that I mentioned above that you might not have caught on to, but really important. When I save money on something, i.e. I buy a bottle of ketchup for $2.00 that was normally $4.00, I transfer the difference, in this example, $2.00, to my high-interest savings account. Since I budgeted for the $4.00 price anyways, I don't miss the money and instead put it to work, making more money. I have a lot more sites for everything from coupons, free deals, best deals, federal deals, housing, traveling and just about anything else. Email me at morejunkmail4me@hotmail.com if you want more info on something and I will send you my links of websites I have saved. Hope that helps some people. ![]() Last edited by User Name; 05-06-2009 at 04:06 PM. |
