Since it is raining here, I thought I would throw out a interesting
stock that may stir up some conversation. I am NOT advising you to purchase this stock. I am not a broker or represent a firm of any kind. You CAN lose you money in stocks. I am just a old fart that sets on the sidelines most of the time and observes the markets. But I will throw my hat in when I see something interesting. The money market rates have dropped, so where can I put a little money to work that will offset the low rates? I choose tanker shipping. Not just any shipping, but a niche. The price of oil has not dropped that much and I don't expect it to do so because of world wide demand. I chose a little company called (ONAV) located out of Greece. They have been paying .50 cents per share the last 5 quarters. They only carry cleans fuels. They don't depend on the spot market price as they are mostly booked until 2010. They have a couple of new ships on order and I expect them to grow for several years until the tanker market becomes too crowded. They also have a 5 star rating on CAPS and allot of analysts have a 'strong buy' rating on this company. They just reiterated a consistent dividend policy on 1-10-08. Now standing at around 15.00 bucks per share they seem like a buy to me. But I recommend you do your own homework......Robert |
