Hi everyone. I recently closed an account with BB&T and am looking for a new bank. I want a bank with
I'm also thinking about opening up a savings account with an online bank, so being able to deposit money into that from my checking account is a must. Thank you so much to anyone who has a suggestion.

Too Funny!!! ![]() I would have suggested Branch Banking and Trust but after reading your post I suppose I'll keep my type written words shut! ![]() Try a credit union in your area. Personally I like SunTrust.

I agree, I joined a credit union when I was looking for a car loan, but I've stuck with them because they offer all of the services you listed and more. Banking with them has been great. If you plan on moving after college, though, you might need to move your account again; even though many credit unions provide online banking, and almost certainly provide services over the phone, they are often rooted in specific locations (for many credit unions, their charters allow them to serve only a certain region of the country), and sometimes you really need to be able to go into a branch and sit down with a real person to resolve an issue.

I challenge anyone to find a reason not to use a credit union for their banking. Generally, their customer service is better and they pay higher interest rates on savings and lower interest rates on loans than the big banks. Also, look up shared branching. Most credit unions participate in this across the United States. Through this service you are able to make deposits, withdrawal, wire funds, and get cashier's checks at any credit union that participates for your account. Also, you are able to use all of their atm's. This will actually give you access to more atms and locations than any other big bank. If you are someone that is technology savvy enough to check your email then there is no reason why you should bank with a bank and not a credit union.
