Most large companies are member of state guaranty associations that will honor the policy, but many small ones are not.
My friend, thats precisely the problem with almost a majority of companies across the US. The term policies are being gracefully offered by the carriers & get accepted for a lower cost. But thats quite cheaper with the less recognized names within the industry.
Isn't it a good reason why we should give preferences to the widely recognized carriers rather than playing around the small fries ??

It feels good to know how our near ones would be entitled to receive the same benefits if anything happens within the time-frame. But do we recognize how our premiums ought to raise with each renewal of the same. Its almost like that slow drug that puts us to a nicer sleep & retains it forever..I'd rather say, our lives are just too precious..think of our loved ones (especially the dependents). What happens to them when we are gone ?? We'd never come to know about it after we are gone..am I right!!

Regards,
Jeffery Scott

I'm afraid to see the price difference. Is it a whole lot more if you are a smoker? My husband says just finish filling one out and see what comes back and that the answer might make us think seriously about quitting. So I guess I'm wanting to know are there any smokers on here that have gotten life insurance and if so is it alot more than if you don't smoke. I'm talking is it a huge difference? Thanks
If you say on your application that you don't smoke and you happen to die from smoking related causes while the policy is in force, do you think that the insurance company should pay you since you lied on the app?

Just tell the truth and look for the cheapest rate or stop smoking or get a part-time job to cover the increase if you need to. Just don't let the fear of the rate determine your personal values.

Shop around with different carriers. Premium rates fluctuate all over the place. Depends what mood the underwriters are in. It helps if you find an agent that has a good relationship with the carriers he's currently appointed with.

This is a very good point. Second hand smoke is not filtered, so it's actually more dangerous than the what the smoker inhales.
