Default USA Mortgage???

We are trying to decide what to do with our house. We honestly can't afford to keep paying the monthly payment. Our mortgage company (Everhome) has about 4 times sent us papers to fill out to see about getting our payment lowered. We are in limbo. If we can't get things worked out, we may have to sell, which we don't really want to do.
We got a card in the mail from USA Mortgage Aid. It has on there 'notice of your HUD rights'. It states on there that they may be able to get all your past due payments moved to the end of your loan. And they can create a plan to repay the past due amounts over time.
My husband called and talked to a guy. We are to send them $750 to get it started. Then we have another 6 weeks to pay $1300 to Everhome. We would get paperwork to see what kind of payment we can afford. They would apply the past due balance onto the principal.
At the end of the 6 weeks, we would pay them another $750.
What I want to know is if this is legit. I do not want to pay all this money to a company and get scammed. How can I find out if it is legit or not?

Check online for reviews or other forums. You'll find your information there.

NO, do NOT pay anything up front! That is not legit.

You should be able to find out if you qualify first before having to pay a dime.

Thanks! I asked about it at the credit union and they said the same thing, NOT to send them any money.
So, guess we'll just continue trying to get the mortgage company to work with us. Or end up selling.

Thumbs up Re: USA Mortgage???

I too received one of their cards in the mail. I called, spoke to a guy but he charged me $1,500.00 They had my loan for 5 weeks or so, I was begining to think I got scammed and then all of a sudden, I got a package from my lender Washington Mutual. USA mortgage aid dropped my rate from 6.6% to 3% for one year than 4% until 2011 then back up to 6.6% after. I am AMAZED at the deal these guys got me. I have referred 2 neighbors, so we'll see how they do with them. I've been told I would have got the same results on my own, but for me it was the best $1500 i've ever spent - it literally saved me thousands. I give them the Thumbs up - they're legit

Good Luck Rosie!!!

Tom

The banks really don't want your house and going to foreclosure is expensive for them so they would prefer to work with you to modify your loan. When you talk to them ask for a principal reduction too (they may not want to do it but it doesn't hurt asking especially if you are upside down).

DO NOT send the $ 750, or any money for that matter. It is against the low for any company to charge consumers an upfront fee to help them modify their mortgage. Legit companies will charge a fee for "performance". What that means is that they can only charge you after they have negotiated an affordable payment for you.

Hi all, first post here and I have got to say that I agree with Andy on this one the banks WILL work with you, they don't want to lose out financially and it makes much more sense for them to renogotiate an affordable repayment with you rather than letting it go to foreclosure where they most definitely will make less if not lose money!

Oh and by the way I know the previous post was my first but it was also the first post of the gentleman putting on all the positive spin about USA Mortgage. I don't like to throw stones in greenhouses but to have been a member since January and only make the first post in defense of a mortgage by mail company seems a little odd and a bit sales pitchy!
Sorry just an observation!

Good luck Rosie, if you love your house fight for it, talk to your lender and renegotiate.

Pay only after the work has been done. Also, if you want to check the authenticity you may take the details of their previous clients. This would help you in knowing about this company.

I was wondering how to get leads in this current mortgage market with all the rate changes that have happened.
I don't know if I should target real estate agents, Internet leads, or direct mail. What should I do? Please let me know your ideas for how to get some deals.

I live in Australia and we have been scammed by a company called LAWRENCE PARTNERS! We were sold a $10,000 package for a refi and a debt reduction/wealthcreation program by a LICENSED financial planner. The general manager came to see us and it was obvious he had no idea what he was on about and was not qualified to fry a hamburger! We have lost our 10K! KEEP AWAY!!!!
