Well you have to search some banks and find out the offers different banks are giving , like which is more safe, who takes lowest interest ....then you will be easy to figure it out which is the best for you...

before applying for cards and taking hits on your credit score (not that there might be much of one right now), see if you PRE-qualify for any cards. Many CC sites offer this option to see what kind of offers you MIGHT be able to obtain. Also a good idea is to open up an account at a credit union, then obtain a card through them. thay are typically very good to their members.

I would first suggest that you just get a debit card and save money to make big purchases.
If you choose to get a credit card, you might look at getting a gas card to start. It will give you limited use and still build your score. Remember, using credit only to build your score is not necessary, just learn to live on less than you make and save money. Good management of money will lead to a good score anyway.

in my point of view a secured credit card is a good for you, even better than a joint/co-signer card.

You can start with a credit card with low credit limit, but once you build a good credit history, by paying your bills on time, they'll increase your credit limit.
