Default What it takes to be successful

A couple of years ago, Rand Fishkin's company was almost bankrupt. For a while they drew short straws on who would take home the pay check, and who wouldn't.

It wasn't because he wasn't working hard - it's just that setting up and establishing a new business takes time.

This week he posted what his current schedule is like:
SEOmoz | Snippets from 30,000 Feet

He's constantly moving between the conference circuit, meeting big clients, and generally using his time to maximum efficiency. That includes ensuring he can get some personal and family time to cool down from business stress.

He also works within his limits - he's enjoying it, but probably realises he's pushing a little too hard and needs to slow down.

That's why he's so successful today - not because he tried to earn money to sit back on his ass, but because he tried to build a business and was always willing to put the extra effort in to make it work.

Anyway, take a read - the point isn't that he's now running a very successful and high profile business in his industry - it's the sheer dedication he puts into it.
