Exclamation Who do recessions hurt?

What kind of companies are going to do worst in a recession? I'm looking at info from the early 1990's and I understand there was a recession there.

Under capitalized and credit based firms or companies who buy their inventory with credit or companies whose sales are dependent on credit.

The auto industry, for example, is dependent on their prospective buyers obtaining credit to buy their product. No credit, no sales.

Companies like Circuit City (to the best of my knowledge) bought their inventory with credit not capital so when sales are slow they can't service their debt.

I'm sure Microsoft's sales are down also but they are a debt free corporation.

Companies not affected or that are recession proof,... grocery stores, beer distributors, funeral homes, auto repair, medical providers and most all forms of insurance,... etc.
