Default Work Expenses/Personal Credit Card/Issues

Hello

Did a search and I couldn't find much on this. I have gotten into a position where It is difficult to use my personal credit cards for work expenses. I basically am at or near the limits on my cards and unable to get more credit. I have approached family in reference to becoming an authorized user on their accounts but that hasn't worked out.

I am stressing out about asking my boss for a company credit card and wanted to seek advice from others who may have been in this situation. I am concerned that me asking will lead to my boss questioning my responsibility when it comes to personal finances and ultimately go against me. Any input on a suggested approach with my employer would be helpful.

Thanks

I hate to say it but if your boss doesn't know about your work "expenses" are you getting reimbursed for it?

Also, if you keep hitting the limits(depending on how high the limits are) on your personal credit cards, it will definitely reflect on your poor spending habits to your boss. I would ask him about the company card and tell him the reason you keep hitting your limit, is because you're incurring too many work expenses. I would think he would understand unless he is reimbursing you. If he is, then your plea may fall on deaf ears

My boss knows about it and I am getting reimbursed for work expenses. I asked about company card and the answer was no. I'll have to work it out.

Another problem is that as we have paid down cards, the creditors have lowered the limits, so I try to keep enough to cover me with my debit card. I have taken a pay cut like many others and my wifes income has fallen through the floor. That hasn't helped much either.

Thanks for your answer

How is it that you are expected to pay for expenses at work but not being reimbursed in a timely fashion? My job sometimes requires me to drive to courts miles away from my home and usual job site, and I am always reimbursed for any gas expenses or parking expenses within 2 days. Why can you not just use cash for your expenses?

Personally I would tell my boss to kiss my you know what on using a personal credit card for business. It is his responsibility as your employer to supply you with a credit card. One question you need to ask yourself, is what if you put all these expenses on your credit card and he doesn't pay the bill. Guess what! Your credit score will be affected. Don't do it. Find a new job if he won't give you a CC.
